+1 This thread has so many weirdos on here. I'd love to know who you people are exactly. I am from the Northeast, I respect the Ivies a lot. I went to Duke and loved it. My brother had a great experience at MIT.
My kids' achievements far surpass mine and I would be absolutely thrilled if they chose to go to Northwestern.
What is it about UChicago and NU people that they must constantly toot their own horns? It’s just tiresome.
That person isn't even from Northwestern. Why are you so obsessed? It's just tiresome.

When is the last time you were there? What does "ghetto" mean? I worked in social services in Durham and while there is a low-income population, it's filled with hard working, inspiring people, too. What city does not have a shady contingent? And how can a city be dead while it keeps growing? What's a great town? Especially one to go to college in? Where did you go to college?
Sorry, that was sarcasm for the PP who said Durham is an undesirable craphole. Durham had a sketchy rep, 20 or 30 years ago. But growing that much in 20 years makes it anything but a craphole. Durham and North Carolina in general are BOOMING. And the weather is far more desirable than Chi-raq's miserable grey skies, subzero temps and two feet of snow.

There's at least one person with some bizarre hatred towards Northwestern. You would think they'd at least have learned to hide their tracks a bit and stop referring to it as "NW." No one calls it that. It's NU.

Duke is just another subpar, HYPSM wannabe filled with HYP rejects. Too bad it's in the South and Durham is just crap. It's been declining in the rankings and the endowment flopped last year. Probably on the same level as NU now.
