Why would someone make up the Cobbs comments? You can believe all the conspiracy theories about "gentrifiers" you want, but we don't hold meetings to create myths about perfectly respectable people like our local principal. This is why some of us were shocked by her attitude and comments -- we were there to support the school in the first place, not to attack anyone.

At least one person who says this? Christ, what nonsense get spewed on this board. She announced that she wants more of "her own" at a school open house, a year ago in front of at least four dozen prospective parents, making it perfectly clear that she was referring to AA kids.
Many of us hung around after the open house to compare reactions - we were uniformly annoyed, it not disgusted. Somebody should have recorded her and gone to the press and her higher ups. If Cobbs were good for the neighborhood, the neighborhood would be there after PreK, vs. a small number of IB (truly IB, not address cheating) families.

My daughter's teachers in ps3 and pk4 were great -- her ps3 teacher, in particular, was phenomenal. (She was in a Bright Horizons program before she started at LT, and right before we made the switch, I was worried that I was sacrificing her education in my eagerness to stop paying daycare fees. After she switched, I changed my tune -- the Reggio program at LT was a MUCH better fit for my daughter than the BH curriculum.)
I am, admittedly, a fan of LT -- but even parents I know who aren't as satisfied w/the school generally seem happy with the ps & PK teachers. (So far this year I've also been very pleased with my daughter's K teacher.)

I've met Principal Cobbs several times and she ranged from unfriendly to hostile. I've witnessed a lot of situations where the kids were late getting to class, as a whole group, with their teacher. There are several excellent teachers, but I honestly don't think a school can be good if the Principal is actually openly hostile to people.

There is by no means consensus that Principal Cobbs is not a good leader. On the contrary, she excels at certain aspects of school management. (She makes excellent hires, for example.) If the drop suggests cheating, it also suggest the cheating *stopped*. I'm satisfied by that. I don't require Cobbs' head for it.
