Social distancing does not necessarily mean no travel. If you are suspicious of the CDC’s motives, NPR also has independent medical experts who provide a very thorough explanation. You can google NPR and “to fly or not to fly”.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:While I appreciate your abundance of caution, the CDC is still not recommending the extreme measures you're advocating. Not sure why everyone is so attached to one trip anyway.

But unless they force people to stop traveling, those who do travel will just bring it back to the rest of us. You’ll be waiting forever if the think the entire US is just going to suddenly comply.
Because we are children and very few of us are willing to make even the smallest compromise in the name of the common good. Not traveling would help to slow it down and dissipate the effect on the health care system. Let's hope your kid doesn't break their leg or get in accident whilst all this is going on.
We need the government to step it all up. Airlines and hotels are not reimbursing people. I paid $6,000 for an apartment in Aspen to go skiing next week, I booked it through VRBO and am not going to get anything back if I cancel. Delta is also refusing to give me credit...
I don't understand where people got the idea that a pandemic was supposed to be trouble free and convenient. Jesus.
Also I bet its all the 'no government oversight' people whining! You don't want the government in your homes, churches, or workplace. Well you can stand to let the government stay back when you lose money over your random vacations as well.
Hypocrites.
You do understand that they are under pressure from the POTUS to keep the economy going. Listen to Dr Fauci very closely and you will see that he is in favor of a lot of social distancing and keeping to yourself.

I had every intention of going but everyone I talk to thinks I’m nuts to even consider going.
Go ahead and go. Roll the dice!

Anonymous wrote:Okay - serious question. We had a cruise booked for spring break that we are rebooking. I’d prefer a refund but that is not looking likely. The two times we can rebook that fit in the 12 month window are November (election week) or January (MLK week.) Neither is ideal as the kids will miss a few days of school but our options are limited. We are leaning towards November so that the trip won’t be in the height of seasonal flu and winter weather for flights, but Jan is technically further away for CV19 purposes.
What say you oh wise DCUMers? November or January?

I would be concerned, too. However, at the presser just now, Dr. Birx said that there were several pregnant women in China who had the virus when they were giving birth and all had healthy babies.
Of course, it is doubtful that you are ready to deliver, so I suppose it could be different.
