If there was ever a time for national requirement for sick leave THIS IS IT.

The main thing that will turn ebola into an even bigger threat is allowing our elected officials to turn this public health issue into a civil rights issue.

Total and complete BS. A right wing congressman starting a rumor that Fox News is spreading. Simply not true.

Really?

And, lest you still think that it is just a BS story because it was told by a conservative, here is the memo:

You don't not quarantine because someone will feel bad

I have a lot of respect for DWB and the other organizations helping the ebola patients, but in some cases, based on all of the selfie type photos and ages of some volunteers, it seems like some of them just want the street cred and are upset they're being welcomed home with a quarantine which really, they should be more than happy to comply with if they understand the nature of this disease and give a hoot about others.

If they were working with Ebola patients for a few months, don't you think they know more about the nature of this disease than, say, you do??

They surely understand that Ebola is spread through body fluids, and if they aren't symptomatic, they aren't spreading Ebola.

We need to quarantine the doctors who treated Ebola in the US. Hopefully, this will not deter any of them from treating Ebola cases.

and you have to trust those potentially infected that they will not venture into general public when they have symptoms. npr did a piece showing how their is no reliable test for non symptomatic patients: ebola brews in liver and spleen until ready to wallop the patient. this the virons only appear in blood once they are actively sick. it can take 21 days for symptoms to show and this a blood test is only useful after symptoms appear prior to 21 days it tells you nothing.

Obama administration does not yet know if military aircraft outfitted with containment systems will fly non-military personnel. Samaritan's purse paid the 1 private carrier to fly 2 people at $200,000/flight. I guess we paid for Vincent and Pham. If Obama is referring to US citizen doctors and nurses that is one thing but perhaps there has been dialogue on flying others. I could see trips to return medical staff to Spain/UK etc but not non-medical staff.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/federal-eye/wp/2014/10/28/the-world-relies-on-this-one-company-to-fly-ebola-patients/

Quarantine and home isolation are based on science. The camera man was not providing healthcare and one person was an administrator working a chlorine solution hose. The fact is you just don't know.

What would be wrong with it if it were true? Don't you think we could give adequate care to those poor afflicted people? We are all human after all.

Why don't they deserve equal care? It shouldn't be determined by accident of their birth on another part of the planet we call home.

You are either the world's sweetest millennial, or a paid goon.

Taking care of Ebola patients is expensive, messy, and RISKY.

Costs estimated between $18K-$24K per day http://www.marketwatch.com/story/if-you-get-ebola-will-it-be-covered-by-insurance-2014-10-27

Ebola patients generate 440 gallons of medical waste per day http://news.discovery.com/human/health/ebola-patients-generate-440-gallons-of-medical-waste-daily-141021.htm

And risky because Pham, Vinson and Spencer became infected despite PPE (full PPE for Spencer). All three have stated that they don't know how or when their exposure happened.

The fewer incidents of Ebola in this country, the better. I have voted Dem for 16 years and it took a couple of weeks of wondering before I realized this has the potential to be a problem. An

I am also tired of hearing about "the science," because the short history of Ebola in the US points to human error (TX hospital sending a feverish Duncan home, NY cops tossing their gloves in a public trash can) and human arrogance (Spencer out painting the town red while he "felt funny"). Relying only on "the science" can lead to unexpected infections due to unexpected human errors.

We might not get the tidy result we're anticipating.

Australia and North Korea have put ebola travel bans in effect. We should too.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/28/world/asia/australia-immigration-policy-ebola/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

In the fight against Ebola, Australia has said: No thanks.

Immigration Minister Scott Morrison announced "strong controls" on arrivals from West African countries affected by cases of the deadly disease.

Telling Australia's parliament during a question time session Monday that his ministry was currently "not processing any application from these (Ebola) affected countries," he said that the government was also suspending its humanitarian program.

He added that holders of permanent Australian visas based in these countries would be subject to a mandatory, three-week quarantine process prior to their departure. Visitors approved to travel to Australia will also face further screening and followup checks upon arrival.

I guess you would be perfectly happy forking over another couple hundred per month, let's say, in taxes to pay for the flights of ebola patients? Ok with you, even if it means you have to take it out of your kid's college funds? Or better yet, we'll need to add isolation units to our top hospitals, so that will bring up the tax bill. I suggest you take it up with citizens who might not have a big bank account, which I'm guessing you do. Also, while you're at it, ask the Native Americans if they'd like to compete with ebola patients for medical resources. I hear BIA hospitals aren't too great.

And some Americans can probably get better care for certain diseases in France or Switzerland. Does that mean they should fly over there and demand to be treated cost-free?

Logic tells you travel bans are effective. Again, not rocket science.

I myself am concerned about how ebola is being handled but stuff like this doesn't help the situation. Bad reporting. And unfortunately, a lot of 65+ people are going to run with it and because this piece of "news" because they feel it's true.
