Exactly. I am a New Yorker, a registered Democrat, and I find him not guilty. In fact I am grateful that there is one less psycho to terrorize me and my young children on the subways. If our elected officials won’t do anything to keep us safe, then vigilante justice it is.
Cases like this are going to cause people NOT to intervene when another person is at risk. And, then all the keyboard warriors will say, "Why the hell didn't anyone stop the lunatic?"
Simply show them a picture of Daniel Penny in handcuffs. Or, Jordan Williams.

Why would this guy choke this man out like this?

Guy did the right thing. This homeless guy should have been locked up or institutionalized. He was a danger to others.
You think he was right to kill him? Literally choke him to death for 15 minutes? That's disgusting.
The marine literally murdered someone with his bare hands and you are calling the homeless guy a danger. Unbelievable.
Well everyone at the scene was watching and cheering on the Marine. That's not something the NYC public do unless they feel threatened by the crazy homeless.

I haven't read this thread but I'm relieved someone who killed someone else will face some examination of their actions. Knowing the extenuating circumstances, I am quite sure he won't face a severe sentence.
But indicted he must be. You cannot kill someone and get to walk away without even the motions of an investigation, even if you had every reason to restrain someone and they accidentally died.
Let justice take its course. He's white, looks clean cut, has a ton of witnesses to back him up... I don't think any of you should worry about him.

+1. The Marine did the right thing. He was protecting the other people on the train.
Exactly. Everyone on that train SAID he was a hero for protecting them.
The indictment is racist.

This is totally different because the person who was killed actually assaulted someone and deserved retaliation. But somehow I don’t think everyone who donated to Penny is going to donate to this guy for some reason…
And you would be wrong...
Really? You think *everyone* who donated to Penny is going to donate here, too? On what do you base this astonishing and completely ridiculous claim?

The victim had not assaulted anyone on that train.
Yet.
You haven’t assaulted anyone yet either, I presume. Okay if I choke you out?
