No idea WTH you are talking about. If there was ever an issue Americans from all sides were unified about, it's definitely not wanting a war between Russia and Ukraine. This is awful.

Not true. Many Republicans are clearly supporting Putin including the current leader of the Republican party who even this evening was praising Putin.

Why should there be any world order at all? What happened when the world turned a blind eye to the Japanese Empire expanding in the Pacific? What happened when the world turned a blind eye to Germany invading Poland? The whole reason world order and laws exist is to prevent yet another world war that will kill 200+ million people. Unfortunately, many countries bout there cannot get out of their expansionist mindset and learn nothing from history.

That would be a lovely little argument except you know full well the West and the U.S. has repeatedly violated the norms it pretends to support, and the norms which it claims it wants others to obey. Iraq invaded for no reason, half a million people dead, the country in ruins. Libya destroyed, turned into a lawless enclave, and for what? Supporting a senseless, criminal war in Yemen that starves people to death. Building close alliances with repressive dictators in the Gulf. Wake up. The US is a terrible spokesperson for democracy.

As the saying goes, "No plan survives first contact with the enemy." Moreover, it is unlikely that you are fully briefed on any agenda Putin may or may not have. I wouldn't be too quick to downplay the potential for catastrophe.

We clearly have different definitions of what is catastrophe.

This is bad for ukrainian people. Georgia and Moldova should be worried.

But people thinking Putin is gonna March tanks into Paris are being hyperbolic

Who is thinking that? Ukraine will keep Putin busy for sometime so any addition expansion will not happen overnight. But, if Putin succeeds in Ukraine, he won't stop there. But, I think destroying a country of 41 million people, probably killing 10s of thousands, and provoking a huge wave of refugees that may well destabilize neighboring countries is a catastrophe by itself. If it spreads to additional countries, it will be even worse. You seem to think that this is some Russian version of the US attacks on Grenada or Panama. It is much more than that.

Russia is in worse shape in almost every way than it was before Putin. He and his oligarch friends have looted the country for nothing.

That is demonstrably untrue as Russia under Yeltzin was much much worse.

Yeah it’s clear most people here don’t know anything about Russia

Just because Russia doesn’t consoom like America, doesn’t mean Russia is some third world backwater.

Russia was in a much worse place even 15 years ago.

The screeching tomorrow from Americans about gas prices is going to be a sight to behold.

Biden will not commit troops.

Ukraine is going to become belarussized at best. east of dneiper will be russia. West will be a new country, that will be influenced by russia.

The average American won’t feel that stressed tho.

Putin is not hitler or napoleon. People need to stay rational.

He has launched a total, unprovoked attack against a sovereign country - the major cities of Ukraine, including Kiev, are being hit by missiles and an amphibious assault has been launched against Odessa. What's the difference? Putin seems a little unhinged.

Putin's statements and actions qualify as delusional. He wants to reconstitute the Russian empire.

No. Listen to him again. He has clear goals. It’s the same gals Russia had post wall falling. The difference is capabilities.

Russia could not do this in 99 or 2009.

But they were not ok with nato expansion - again and again.

The bill just came due today. But the invoice was sent decades ago

You do not know what you are posting about. As soon as you start killing people they fight back. There is no way of knowing where or when this with stop or what countries will be dragged into this. Wars of aggression never end he way people think it will.
