I don’t understand why Jack was so surprised they were both there in the future if they ended up being such great co-parents and Toby was staying for dinner, they were all there for birthday parties, etc. wouldn’t that mean that for most of his life after they divorced they were both around a lot? Why be so surprised that they’re both at the bar to hear him sing? Just an excuse to repeat the line from his childhood. Dumb.

For me… that episode totally struck a nerve. It was painful and reminded me a lot of my own marriage.

Kate looked beautiful on her wedding day. Dress was gorgeous. I loved the beading.

Okay so definitely not Madison and maybe not Sophie. Can't be Cassidy and don't think the connection with Zoe was ever very strong so...someone new?

Agree with the Team Toby posters, and really glad to see him happily coupled up in the future with a woman with a sense of humor. I found Toby completely annoying this entire series-- until the last two episodes. I'm pretty shocked at the turnaround!

During Kate's first date with Phillip at the Mexican restaurant, she wore her hair in soft curls with the long bangs twisted and clipped to the back, and I was astounded by how much she looked like the older version of teen Kate. The casting in this show has been amazing.

Really bummed to see Kevin go through a string of bimbos. (Can I use that word? I consider myself a feminist, so may not. . . ) The promo for next week hints that he hooks up with Sophie at Kate's wedding, but Kate says Sophie is there with her husband. I really hope Sophie doesn't cheat on him.

I have mentioned before that I resent the show's manipulation with all these teases and misdirections. It's gimmicky. Korean dramas do flash backs and flash forwards all the time, but they're usually done to give the viewer a different perspective and enhance the storytelling. While this episode at least answered some questions and tied up parts of the narrative, I don't feel like any of it gave me something fresh to think about.

In one occurrence, the room at the end of Kevin's hallway, there are windows on the side of the room. When he says, "hi, it's me, Randall, your son" you can see those windows behind him. That's clearly in Kevin's house. But you see a shot of him from behind walking into a room wearing a similar brown blazer. Plain tan walls flank the door.

It could be a horrible continuity error. Or not. I don't see any other footage that would correspond to the barren wall shot, though. When he's in the room w/ Rebecca, it's def Kevin's house.

The big difference is Randall’s hair color, IMO[/quote

I don’t disagree but it could be bad makeup/lighting continuity

Possible for first two but I think they are pretty careful and good with continuity. This is why I wish they tell the story in the one timeline! LOL! Too much English Patient!

That and her weight is a huge factor. Toby and her met because of the weight factor. I don’t buy that he’d go for her at this size. The show has a “hey being morbidly obese is ok as long as you get your way” vibe and I hate it.

That wasn’t a date. They were work friends going out after signing divorce papers.

As anyone who has gotten divorced knows - by the time you sign the papers you’ve been acting divorced/single for a good long while. It’s not like he just moved out a month ago. That was probably a year removed from when they separated.

I think they were both broken people who should have fixed themselves before getting married. During the course of their marriage they did, but then discovered they weren’t compatible. As Toby said, Kate married a coping mechanism.

I liked this episode. I didn't like Kate and at times I didn't like Toby at times, but that's what ending a marriage is, right?

Kate is extraordinarily selfish and it's hard to forgive. Toby does something he doesn't want to do work-wise and then holds a massive grudge.

I tend to think the right answer if Kate really wanted to make the marriage work was not for Toby to make all the sacrifices, but once you do that you have to own it, unfortunately.
BUT, Kate's constant criticism, yike. Who wouldn't be worn down. Toby went over the line though (at least in TV world).

I still don't really get the Philip/Kate relationship, but it's a good prop for everything else.

And the everything else that was going on in this episode was INTERESTING.
