You wouldn't see it swing inward would you?

Just to clarify, are you all arguing if she literally propped the door open and he walked through a propped open door, or is she being accused of leaving the door unlocked after closing the door she temporarily propped open but then closed? I can't tell if you mean literally open or just not locked.

Those doors swing outward.

How do you know? I haven't seen a lot of info about the door mechanics. Is there an article that discusses it?

DP - no, of course there isn't. This poster is making it up. The only indication that door opens inward is the statement from the article that "she slammed it shut," which would be a slightly odd thing to say if the door swung outward, but doesn't tell us either way.

Not really. You're forgetting that she saw the gunman and had called 911. Those doors often have a slow or delayed close mechanism. If you want it to close fast then you need to pull it hard.

My guess is that Councilman Chief Pete tried to pin it on the teacher and that's why he stopped cooperating on Sunday.

Whelp, the door is how he got inside in the first place, so it's kind important. You have NO idea what he would have done. That part is simply made up. Why go through a door at all - just bang your way in any old way. Why bother looking for an unlocked door? How did he know THAT door was unlocked?

Yes, beautifully said, spot on, and please consider running for office. I'm serious. You've stated this in a way that it's hard to imagine anyone taking issue with.

Maybe not. Let's talk about DOOR and also Chicago, Oregon, and ANITFA. And if that doesn't keep them confused, talk about doors again.

One required safety feature that I have not seen mentioned is the need for exterior doors to have alarms. I moved my DD out of her college dorm recently and the door to her section of the building has a built-in alarm. If the door is propped open, an alarm will sound and security should come immediately to investigate. We were able to move things out of the dorm, but had to make sure not to leave the door open. It was a little bit of a pain at the time, but an important safety feature to have.

Another important consideration - schools should lock down when there is a crime involving a firearm in the area. For instance, when DD was in her MCPS high school, a local McDonald's was robbed at gunpoint about 1/2 mile from the school. The HS went into lockdown, at least a "soft" lockdown. PE classes came inside. Exterior doors were checked. Classroom doors were locked, but classes could continue until police gave the "all clear." This should have happened in Uvalde as soon as the grandmother's shooting was reported to the police.

Even IF the teacher DID pull the door closed after she came in, the door remained unlocked which means it would have to have been deliberately defeated as they are designed to lock automatically when closed. That’s also code. If someone is going to prop open a door with a rock not meant to be propped open, they probably also defeated the locking system.

So your galaxy brain theory is that the teacher that had propped the door open then went to close the door and she did close it but deliberately defeated the lock? Makes perfect sense.

Nope. I'm saying that the lock was defeated prior to the door being propped open so if it closed, a staff member would not be locked out. Otherwise it would have locked itself as designed. If she actually closed the door.

Furthermore he never takes his hands off the gun. His gait never changes either. He just walks in

You won't see a door swing in the video because he enters a recessed outdoor vestibule. See Google Street view here: https://goo.gl/maps/n9UXfREWzp2mYEKe9

Now will the PP who claims you can see him entering the door please apologize?

That’s not the door he entered. You can clearly see that door in google maps too in the NY Post video off to the right. Watch the video again.

That absolutely is the doorway he approaches in the video, I've just showed you the door from a head-on angle. You can see that he walks on the concrete path that leads to the door from the parking area in my Google Street View link.

Here is an angle that roughly matches that of the video: https://goo.gl/maps/1HnUzLNDyvzKbt69A

In the video, the dark objects he walks behind are the AC condensers.

Now, is this the door he entered? I don't know. But the PP in this thread claims the door is propped open in the video. I state that you can't draw that conclusion because the door in this video is part of sunken outdoor vestibule that is not within sight of the security camera in the leaked video.

He’s on the grass in the NY Post video.

Good lord look at the overhead map I posted (see #2 in the photo):

That #2 corresponds to this door on Google Street View: https://goo.gl/maps/n9UXfREWzp2mYEKe9

Are you dumb or intentionally obtuse?

It's the same door:

"A back door at Robb Elementary School, where a gunman entered through to get into a classroom in last week's shooting, is seen in the distance in Uvalde, Texas, Monday, May 30, 2022. (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong)"

The door is wider when open than the vestibule. Look at the fire extinguisher for perspective.

If she pulled that door closed, it was not unlocked. Are you deliberately obtuse? The doors are designed to lock automatically to the outside when closed. Can that be defeated? I would imagine, yes, if a staff member decided she didn’t want it to lock automatically anymore.
