I heard a lot about Antifa in the months after Jan6 from trumpers. Antifa was the reason for the violence at the Capitol, they say. I don't hear anything about it anymore. They say they have "moved on." Evidently "moved on" means not evaluating what they said in the past to see if it still holds true. Or maybe "gasp!" they made a mistake trusting the people who were pushing the Antifa story line.
Your mistake is in assuming that they, like you and I, mean what they say and try to have reasons for saying things.
They just want to overthrow the government and install a fascist oligarchical theocracy. That’s it. They want to crush normal people and make everyone as sad, lonely, scared and miserable as they are and as they think everyone should be. They’re hopping mad that LGBTQ+ don’t have to live in fear and secrecy. They’re beyond pissed that women have the ability to live independently of men. They’re just enraged that kids are being taught the real history of this country, what White people did to Black people and Native Americans (and many others) as well as the enormous contributions made by all those marginalized groups despite their marginalization.
And so you have utter nonsense, obfuscation about “ antifa” and inflation (that Republicans and Republican business owners are fanning the flames of) and immigrant caravans and CRT, to hide the fact that most Republican voters hate this country and will overthrow if they get the chance.

If they are pleading guilty to this, then that means the ones they are naming under cooperation with the DOJ are going to be charged with Seditious Conspiracy.
Thats...like treason.

I have met an ANTIFA.
It was my WWII vet grandfather.
Thank your grandfather for his service. Ukraine is crawling with ANTIFA right now. I pray for their success.
It would be great if GOP voters figured out that they are on the “FA” side now.
+1 These guys were just following orders.
I still wonder what his exact suspicions were regarding that, if any, or if it was just “never go with a kidnapper to a second location” generalized worry.
I think part of Pence’s calculation to stay in the Capitol was also that, in the Capitol, the Executive Branch has no authority. As a former House member, Pence knew that, within the Capitol, there was an opposing security force that was not at the command of Trump as Commander-in-Chief - the Capitol Police - who could protect him and that he could appeal to the House and Senate for additional protection if necessary. Although Pence himself was at that moment VP and part of the Executive Branch and, in theory, obliged to follow the orders of the President, he was also in that moment, in a Legislative Branch building performing his Constitutionally mandated role in a Legislative Branch act.
The Capitol was actually, not just a place of physical shelter but also the one place that the orders of the Commander in Chief could not reach if Pence refused to obey.
As a former House Rep., he had to realize that.
How does he position that day in his run for the presidency?
Alternately saying he supported Trump and that he saved America. The media doesn’t expect consistency from Republicans, so he could talk out of both sides of his mouth.

And he’s still a Republican. Still in on the coup - just not the part that personally endangered him.

Ok - explainer - I didn't want to repost the entirety of the two articles.
Ornato is a USSS officer that was working on the detail in the Trump White House. During the Trump administration he took leave from the USSS to go work for the Administration directly as Deputy Chief of Staff - which raised eyebrows at the time since the Secret Service shouldn't be partisan. Ornato coordinated the photo op of Trump with the Bible in Lafayette Square after protestors were forcibly removed.
Between that time and January 6th, Ornato went back into the USSS and was in charge of Secret Service movements on January 6th. So Ornato had the authority to direct Pence's detail to an alternate location, which is why Pence telling the one agent, "I trust you, but you aren't driving that car" is at least something that should be looked into.
I think it's pretty well accepted that the USSS is very conservative as far as risk goes, so maybe whisking Pence to Andrews was just their MO.
But at the end of the day Pence wasn't willing to get into a car driven by the USSS that was directed by Trump's former Deputy Chief of Staff on January 6th.
