I think this will move the needle with non-entrenched people. The big question is how many of them there are at this point.
Naw, the report isn't seen as credible when considering the times previous failed attempts, they cried wolf too many times
Uh. No.
It’s the rare occassion that the democrats get to attack with such a simple and delightfully unnuanced statement.
Trump paid 750.00 in taxes.
So delightful. So easily digested.
You paid more taxes than Donald Trump. Boom.
Given the NYT article doesn't allege illegality, why does the tax code apparently allow this?

AND YET Trump could disprove this with one photocopy of just the top page of one tax return. But is he going to? Hell, no.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Forgive me if this has already been answered: How did the New York Times finally get access to his tax returns?
We don't know, although there are a couple paragraphs that provide some insight:
1. The Times examined and analyzed the data from thousands of individual and business tax returns for 2000 through 2017, along with additional tax information from other years. The trove included years of employee compensation information and records of cash payments between the president and his businesses, as well as information about ongoing federal audits of his taxes.
2. The New York Times has obtained tax-return data extending over more than two decades for Mr. Trump and the hundreds of companies that make up his business organization, including detailed information from his first two years in office. It does not include his personal returns for 2018 or 2019. This article offers an overview of The Times’s findings; additional articles will be published in the coming weeks.
The reference to data as opposed to hard copies makes me think it's a state or federal employee who was able to get access to the information via some system.
Something I'm wondering about: thousands of individual and business tax returns? These documents seem like they may not be limited to Trump then, but also possibly employees of various Trump businesses?
It sounds more like it was from whoever was preparing his taxes. Did he change that in 2018 and 2019?

It's legal to not pay taxes if you a broke. Trump's ass is broke. That's why he didn't have to pay taxes.

Ugh. All Trump stories are proved true. It’s just that the base does not care.
