Yikes. I watched the Tuesday episode. You guys had me thinking it was a boring episode but it has been brutal for me. The most crying I’ve done in many episodes. And the only ugly crying.

I lost my dad when I was 20. I remember the day of the memorial service. I have two siblings and things haven’t always been good with them, including the day after the service.

And this show in general makes me think I’ve done everything wrong. I can’t imagine my husband propping me up the way Jack did after the MRI. We don’t have the gushing love of Jack and Rebecca. And I am nowhere near the parent these two are, including not knowing how to save my family from a fire.

I know this is a show but this episode has made me forget that somehow.

PP here -- do you think Randall's perfectionism is due to Kevin and Kate always disappointing his parents? So Randall stepped up and put pressure on himself.

I have three kids, too. Let me tell you - I wish I had half the patience that Jack and Rebecca had!

Yes! I have 3 kids and this show makes me think a lot about how these years are all so formative.

Randall does have his own kind of issues - the perfectionism, over achiever tendencies that led him to a nervous breakdown. But agree, he didn't have a story the night of the fire to beat himself up about (like Kate & Kevin do)

Good theory - they all have so much guilt. But mostly Kevin and Kate. It's kind of crazy that Randall is the most adjusted, but he has no regrets from that time with Jack.

I wonder why Kevin/Kate struggle with addiction, feeling they aren't worthy, etc. Is that genetic from Jack and Rebecca or is that manufactured from their relationships with their parents.

I love this show but I also hate that it's making me wonder what I'm doing now with my kids that will affect them later. It's a very powerful story!

I have a theory that Kevin keeps sabotaging his relationship with Sophie because he feels so guilty for being with her the night of the fire and he never gets over that. She is a constant reminder, so their beautiful, perfect childhood sweetheart love story is ruined.

That PP has a hang-up about Kate. And Rebecca obviously does not blame Kate and told her as much. Because she's normal and understands that Jack was a grown man who made his own choices.

I agree with them and it doesn't bother me at all what time some people choose to post. The nitpicking about completely irrelevant details has finally reached a point at which most of us just don't want to hear it. Maybe start your own thread?
