It seems harsh for a young player. Imagine the coach finding out you are leaving for another team and not playing you for three months. A few years ago a player of a D1 school was benched for not kneeling for the national anthem. The school ended up settling the case for several $100k. Sometimes the coach acts like a bigger child than the player.

The new coach isn't going to kick anyone off the team in the spring as he's not even the coach of the team(s) until the fall. He's committed to finishing out the season for his existing teams in Seattle, which he should. The old/existing coaches shouldn't kick anyone off the team in the spring as they/themselves are leaving the team this spring. It's unclear who is going to coach these girls come April (as BP can't be expected to coach 6 teams), May (once BP leaves), and beyond.

Kid: "I'm leaving the club"
Coach: "Ok, go run 20 laps as punishment while the team watches you."
Kid: "Ok"
A) Why would you tell your current team you're leaving now, unless you're doing a mid-year move and are dropping immediately.
B) Why did would the kid(s) announce this during practice, instead of at the end or otherwise? Seems distracting and worth a few laps for interrupting practice.
C) If you're quitting on the spot...then, no?
I'm so confused.

BC sent an email to the families that said "We will make a few phone calls today and the rest tomorrow for our offers. If your daughter told me she wasn’t staying with the club, we will not make a call."
What age group

Soccer players running laps, how awful.
It's one thing to make everyone run laps, but when you specifically identify certain players who are not returning and then you make those kids run laps in front of other kids who don't have to run laps, it is hazing and illegal. Its intend for public embarrassment. Many of these players still have several months of their season left. Let's see how they are treated going forward.

Have they announced who will be coaching each GA team? I recall someone posting DR for 2012s. Which team is BC coaching? Do they have additional coaches yet?
No coaching staff or fields announced other than DR.
