Sex is not porn.

Porn is porn.

VA just added itself to the list of the dumbing down of its schools. Youngkin will do this asap.

The religious right is taking hold and god help us all particularly women.

Most Americans don’t want porn in schools.

Crazy people are banning books without a hint of sexual content in them at all. Read this thread and the links in it.

Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer was banned as being debased and morally bankrupt in the mid-20th century. You would have signed on to that ruling, for sure.

Ah yes, another member of the loud 30% who thinks they’re the majority. In reality, book banning - even for school libraries and Republicans everywhere are going way beyond that - is extremely unpopular among most Americans.

Most people incorrectly assume school libraries aren’t stocking sexually explicit materials.

Yes, can you believe Lady Chatterley's Lover can be found in some school libraries? Disgusting. Also that salacious Hemingway novel, A Farewell to Arms! Get rid of these obscene books!

Sex is a part of life. It should be taught early.

You don't want your kid reading about life, forbid them to checkout books unless you approve.

You definitely would have voted to ban James Joyce's books from being published if you'd lived in the first half of the 20th century. Sad.

When the book banning fascism is the same thing as stochastic terrorism and the Republicans all say the fascist is beyond the law:

“The threats began the same day that Walters retweeted a post from a day earlier on the conservative provocateur account Libs of TikTok, which featured a video of a librarian at Union Public Schools. The video shows the librarian walking next to a book shelf with the text “POV: teachers in your state are dropping like flies but you are still just not quite finished pushing your woke agenda at the public school.” That’s different from the caption that the librarian originally posted on her TikTok account, which Libs of TikTok removed: “My radical liberal agenda is teaching kids to love books and be kind — hbu??”

When Walters retweeted the Libs of TikTok post to his nearly 10,000 followers, he added: “Woke ideology is real and I am here to stop it.””

It doesn’t need to make sense for these people to try to incite violence, they just go for it.

“The law would have required independent bookstores, national chain bookstores, large online book retailers, book publishers and other vendors to review and rate millions of books and other library materials according to sexual content if those books are sold to school libraries, and to do so according to vague labels dictated by the state without any process for judicial review.”

I live in Indiana and what's going on in Fishers and Hamilton County is a shit show. Unlike a lot of the state, Hamilton County is suburban rather than rural, so it's more surprising to see this Puritanical b.s. from the local government.
