My kid went to a similar school and the competition and rigour are extreme, even for those who are well prepared for this type of academic environment. As you probably know, scotus didn't "toss" the case, it denied certiorari. Two justices dissented to the denial of certiorari. As you also likely know, dissent on denial of cert is very rare. And in this case indicates that if the case was taken, it would have gone against FCPS.
They most certainly will sue again. The 4th circuit decision was issued before SFFA.

Just a comment on alumni not race. My kids work in tech - the alumni network in that industry is wide and deep - similar to an elite college. Other alums come by and say hello when they know you went to TJ
What is embarrassing is when they think you were a TJ kid - the energy changes to "oh". If you didn't go through the grind then you are not worthy. BTW. I chilled at Herndon and did tech things like the TJ kids, so our childhood stories from FCPS overlap.

It would be hard to conclude otherwise since Asian enrollment is at an all time high and Asians were the biggest beneficiary of the chagnes.
Enrollment was higher before the change.
Asians are the only group that shrank.
The white population grew the most.

More importantly, all middle schools are now represented and the % of kids from economically-disadvantaged families has gone from <1% to 16% with the most recent admitted class.
Just looking at admission statistics, which are readily available, it looks like TJ admitted more Asians for the class of 2019 than the class of 2029. Not a lot more but still more. Did the Asians disproportionately reject their offers? Did they disproportionately return to their base school or drop out? The Asian population at TJ has been increasing and this sorry of poor a so to that.
I don't think the purpose of the changes was to open Asians or anything but it was an effort to achieve radial diversity at whatever cost. The initial proposal was a lottery before they moved to this essay format. But the purpose was always to try to achieve racial proportionality of some sort. People thought things were getting out of whack with to many Asians and not enough of everyone else.
What do you mean too many Asians? Excluding Asian American applicants, the rest of student applicants are not enough to build a full TJ class. There is no interest in STEM or TJ outside Asian American students. Why?
Yeah, but how many stem focused Asians do you really need? Do you really need 70% stem focused Asians to run a stem high school? 20% of the population is snatching 70% of the spots. What would the percentage be if they didn't prep? If they let their kids have childhoods? Aren't we doing them a favor by removing the treadmill from their prepping rat race?
