That is an important destinction to remember especially for older boys who no longer wears anything to bed.

But this is really just like an ugly sweater day where you buy something you wouldn’t normally wear for the occasion. If your son thinks it’s lame (I agree), then just don’t participate. Not everyone does.

I think it's an unnecessary tradition. It's not like many teens wear super formal clothes to begin with so I don't see the big need to drees down. Plus many teen boys probably don't even own pajamas because they don't sleep in them.

At most high schools, every day is pajama day.

Its flannel pants and a hoodie, basically the same thing most high school kids wear every day.
