Throwing dream weddings works great for publicity, gives one extra height as a celebrity and brings projects and money.

Hollywood sells myth of love between celebrities who go through partners and breakups like paper napkins.

it just doesn't have the same weight. marriage is like saying "i want to keep you forever" but to everyone.

Ben doesn't seem like a guy who would go after her money. Nor would she want any. They have no lawyers, probably a quick annulment or a decoupling by a court appointed mediator.

she could have stayed with him and have a normal life but that wouldn't look glamorous enough from the outside. her #1 priority is to incite envy of other (very shallow) women. and now everyone pities her.

FTR, I am not a fan of any of these people. But I’d love to see Ben and Garner reunite. I’ve seen it happen IRL with another couple (alcoholic dad blew up his happy home, shacked up with a younger woman for years, etc. but eventually cleaned up and proved himself to his ex-wife and young adult kids).

Everyone here is bagging on Ben. She seems like a complete narcissist. I’m sure he’s no prize, but is probably at least living on this planet. I hope he goes back to banging Playboy bunnies and playing poker in Vegas. Life’s too short. Ya know? Why shack up with an annoying diva who is probably insane behind closed doors.

I don't think so. JG seems more flexible and loving. There is much more of a companionship between them, which is why they have a strong relationship even today. This might not be enough to sustain marriage, but it is still important and almost certainly played a role in how long he stayed with JG. He likes her more as a friend, and not just because of the kids. In contrast, he will never speak to JLo again.

I've said this before: if I were in the celebrity stratosphere he would be one of the dudes I avoided. So. many. red. flags!
