I like a little of the human interest stuff PLUS the explanations. I'm glad you wrote this because I was thinking that they were explaining a lot less.

Peacock is better for the sports but I think I'd prefer a hybrid approach because it's just too much to watch four hours of a competition I didn't really understand. I'd love to see a snippet of something like a start of an archery competition, get a little explanation of how it works and how they train for it, what the goals are and what the variables are, and then see some of the highlights.

Definitely agree. I like getting some explanation of point deductions, fouls, etc. especially with the highly technical sports (that I know nothing about) like fencing. A little bit of the human interest stuff is fine, especially if it's about an athlete who overcame great obstacles in his/her life to get where they are today. There's definitely a balance to be had.

I have not watched NBC's prime time this year because we now have Peacock. Peacock's been fine with the swimming so far so I'll take what I can get.

The men’s triathlon is being postponed until tomorrow due to water quality concerns in the Seine. Plan B apparently is to cut out the swimming altogether and just do the biking and running, if the water quality isn’t up to par tomorrow.

SMH and shame on the organizers. This has been a known problem for a long time and they’ve had months if not years to figure out a contingency plan. Plan B should have been to plan an alternative location for the triathlon in another body of water. They can surf in Tahiti, surely they could find another river or lake in France and plan the course around that. Not cut out 1/3 of the race! I feel bad for the athletes who may get screwed due to sheer incompetence.

OMG, it used to be so much worse 20-25 years ago. It used to be all sob stories and little sport. With Peacock, there's so much more pure sports coverage.

You need the happy medium of the live daytime coverage spread across NBC, USA, CNBC, and E! They don’t have the human interest pieces, and during dead air in the events they’ll do some analytics and commentary and occasionally air some canned pieces. I don’t have peacock, but I’ve been enjoying the live coverage much more than the Primetime packaging. If I see an event I want to watch on the schedule, I DVR it.

I’m not a huge fan of the coverage. I wish they would just show all the medaling events of the day, instead of the same 4 things over and over again. Or human interest crap.

I personally know an Olympian’s family and they had local news bombard them once their athlete qualified. They got a questionnaire from NBC that they use to gauge interest from families and find out if there’s a good angle. I guess some families want the spotlight, some have compelling stories, and some don’t want to look like they’re not supportive. Im glad I’m not in that situation!

Yep remember the obsession about that..kudos to her for managing so much but let's talk about the actual sport or something else, or about Simone.This is to be expected though they have to fill up with the some talk, otherwise would be weird like opening night.
