Anonymous wrote:I reached out to the math coach at Gunston, provided some background about my kid being a very hard worker and the coach immediately revised his placement to be in prealgebra for 6th grade. He has done well in math with no issues - 600 on the math SOL for algebra. you know your kid best.

Goodness! You think it’s stupid for APS to offer kids a class at their level? Getting on this track was a blessing for my kid. It was the first time she wasn’t bored. Straight As all the way
through and a 4 on AP Calc B jr year. Loved AP Calc BC btw. And she’s not even a STEM kid. Going to major in humanities in college. Some kids really do benefit from this acceleration. If it isn’t for your kid, that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean others should not be on it.
