Is it safe? Depends on how healthy your DH is and if he can do it without having repercussions on his health or if he can drive without being fatigued. If you are concerned enough to ask about it on DCUM, then ask the ad comm of the college if it matters.

Is this for real? Yes, unless there’s a medical issue, it’s fine.

I’d regularly drive my kids (from ages 2 and 4 up) by myself to cape cod from DC.

6 hours is truly nothing for a healthy adult.

My parents drove 8 hours at 65 just to pick up a car. Your late 40s husband can't do the same?

My kids are only doing virtual college visits this year. If colleges don't want to take a high stat magnet kid who is full pay then they can go and suck lemons. We are not overly invested in playing the college game anyways in the middle of a pandemic.

+1. I’ve done the 10-12 hour drive solo quite a bit. You leave early in the morning and drive during daylight. Have some caffeine and audiobooks if you need to. What exactly is the issue?

We had long planned a driving trip to NC for DD to have one last look at some colleges. I now have a new job and can't take the time off. I don't think it's safe for DH to drive 6+ hours each way in a matter of 4 days (one day down, two days there, one day back). (DD does not have a license.) DH is confident he can do it, and he's generally a safe driver, but he rarely drives more than an hour at a time. Would you feel comfortable with your spouse driving so far by themselves?
