I am thinking paying one way twice a week. But my DD would uber every day if money were no object.
Where is the teen going? How do you want them to get around?
When I was 14 I was completely reliant on my parents for rides (or boys 16+). It seems like Uber is more for the parents’ benefit than the kid’s here, no?
buses are free in MoCo for all students. That or their bike.
I give my 13 yr old $9/week, and pay them monthly. They also pay for their overage data. The point of an allowance for us is to teach them to budget.
They also get money as gifts from people, and we've taught them to save. They also give to charity - like food drives, xmas presents to low income families, etc.
We started when they were in ES, and we told them that when they get older (teens) they will want to go out with their friends, and when they do, they have to pay for it themselves, so they should use their money wisely, otherwise, they won't be able to have money to go out with their friends.
