The ones I've seen like that are rich people with rich families. They don't want a bunch of Crate and Barrel in their houses, so why would they put it on a registry? Usually, they also have very limited registries and people get them gifts off registry.

Putting it on your registry implies that you think it is appropriate for a guest to buy it and give to you. The guests may have a slightly different view!

I am looking at one for a friend and I am surprised by the listings. Over 2k for most of the things requested. And they are decorative pieces.
