Nah. I remember when I was 25 the only girls who dated much older had issues. Daddy issues, mental health issues, but something. Men like to tell themselves it’s just the natural order, but surely deep down they know it’s not true and when they were 25, their peers who were well adjusted weren’t dating divorcees.

My sister married a man 16 years older when she was young. It was fun for a moment flying first class and accompanying him to interesting places, but reality set in with his kids and ex wife and he became less available to her overtime due to all his baggage, not to mention lately he just seems old, and she’s still young and beautiful and vibrant and she just became a partner in her firm. We all see the writing on the wall now.

Most women I know who are married to men 10 plus years older did it to upgrade their life in some way. Men were more established, had more money, interesting jobs or businesses, right kind of passport. It’s a short cut to building yourself and your life but definitely comes with a price which these women were willing to pay.

You’re just like my ex, same age and he makes a lot, uses it for power and control. Takes them a while to discover he is a narcissist and incredibly abusive. Puts on a good show, with nice incentives. I do not envy them at all.

It might be enviable when she's 24 and off in Paris with a fit 49 year old but much less so when she's 50 and he's 75 and experiencing senior health issues and cannot enjoy sex the same way.

DP.. a 10 to 12 yr age gap doesn't scream " daddy issues" to me, but ^PP is right.. most women wouldn't go for a much older man if it wasn't for the money. And that doesn't mean that the man makes $500K. To some women, it's just about a man buying them nice stuff, even if it's on credit.
