The Wakefield listserv today is full of parents reporting that their kids are not getting enough lunch, food runs out, no sides offered, etc. Anyone else hearing this still at other schools? Know what's going on?

I love the free lunch! It takes something off my list when we get ready and it doesn't single out the kids who might need it.

In previous years both APS elementary schools I worked in took a lunch count each morning so they knew how many lunches to make. I notice I am not asked for this number any longer.

ATS, Key and Innovation don’t have kitchens right now. They aren’t expecting to finish until late October or November.

Did it run out of lunch or run out of their preferred choice?

It ran out and the children were served frozen food because the cafeteria did not have time to prepare anything I guess

My kid is at Drew and ran out of the lunch he preferred, but he had an alternate lunch. In his class, he says everyone picks up breakfast and half to 2/3 gets lunch.

Yeah I think it’s become “cool” because my 4th grader is getting it for the first time in years. He’s also at a school without a working cafeteria

I think free lunch is great too but I think APS needs to get more food

+1. And my kids are exposed to foods outside our regular fare.

My DS complained his lunch was frozen yesterday. We’re at a school without a working cafeteria.
