What is the best middle school in Arlington? I'm concerned hearing about overcrowding, low test scores, fights in the hallways, low academic writing standards, etc. DC is in 5th and we would consider moving to rent in another zone if there is a better middle school. The neighbors have mixed reviews of our local school and a few have pulled out to homeschool/private.
Hmmm, 1 guess on which one you are referring to. All MS have their issues but 1 in particular really gets a bad reputation when really they are all very good.
I can speak for WMS: it does not have overcrowding due to Hamm opening a few years ago, not aware of any fights in the hallways, etc. We've had a great experience there. The key to middle school is it is the STUDENT's responsibility to reach out to teachers for help (attend office hours, etc), not the other way around.
Which one?

When someone asks this questions, this is the answer they're looking for.
I have heard numerous reports of bullying, drinking, and drug use from Williamsburg parents. I would say Hamm or Swanson unless you get the golden ticket to attend HB.
Swanson has had problems with the above as well. As do most middle schools. Hamm pulls from former Swanson/Williamsburg populations, so no reason to think it will be any different. It’s a middle school.
