Subject: The water bottles are killing me
I got these contigo auto seals for my kids. Sooooo easy to wash in the dishwasher. I love them. I can’t stand anything with a nipple or a straw that I have to hand wash. My kids are littler but I’m sure they have bigger sizes?

Weird. We have hydro flasks and we put them plus lids in the dishwasher daily and have for years- they never leak and don’t need to be hand washed and no weird residue. I too use the extra water for the dog dish.

I run them through the dishwasher but then they have to DRY after the cycle on a kitchen towel.

I threw out a bunch and got some by Takeya. You are supposed to put the lids in the top rack of the dishwasher, and I heard that the only problem with putting the bottle in too was that it might affect the outside finish. IDGAF about how the outside looks so I have been putting them all in the dishwasher, no problem. Also, the newest ones I bought are just stainless on the outside, no fancy colors, so no fancy finish to mess up.
They are a little pricey, but they keep the water cold and don't leak. Also, we have 2 different sizes and the lids are completely interchangeable. Worth every penny.

Use a bottle brush with hot soapy water.
I bought everyone a new bottle, donated or trashed the rest. All interchangeable parts, just different colors.

If anyone has one that leaks and it's not because the top isn't on tight enough, we get rid of it right away. Each person has two - one to use, one to wash. Everyone has different colors. Everyone is responsible for washing their own.

Hmmm, I have a lot of home organization problems, but this is not one of them. My kids each have one water bottle. It's very clear it's theirs, they don't share. If you can't find yours, too bad, so sad. Here, I think less is more. Just have one and they will be forced to keep better track.
Now if you could just help me with the mask situation in my house -- is this clean? dirty? where's the "good mask" I use to for riskier situations?

Yes!
OMG there is nothing I hate cleaning as much as water bottles because if I just rinse them I feel guilty (even pre-covid given all the viruses floating around) but they are such a PITA to wash because of their shapes and it feels like the effort/benefit ratio is out of whack.

I always get the one that leaks. No matter how many times I throw it out and replace it, there always seems to be one that leaks and it has to be mine.
