Clearly you have zero idea of what firefighters shifts are like if you think they have a lot of time on their hands.

Please, never call 911. Figure it out yourself.

Shrug. Your experience doesn't have to mirror mine. I served in a position where I could directly observe many firefighters of a large city. They had plenty of time for a mustache.

NP here to agree. The whole point of an emergency response team (firefighter or otherwise) is that they are available. If they are constantly responding, then they're not available. Downtime is literally part of the job and it's not knocking firefighters to say so. They spend that time working out, training, resting, fixing gear and, yes, baking cakes and growing mustaches.

Or as a court bailiff once explained his job to me -- he is payed for what he might have to do, not what he spends most of his time doing.

It's literally filled with guys who have awesome moustaches or model good looks. Sometimes a combination of the two.

Fire fighters are like 2 standard deviations better looking than the average man in SoCal. It's uncanny.

There are more hotties than notties, for sure.

Same. My cousin has been a firefighter for 20 years and I've yet to meet a mustachioed one.

I work with firefighters, and I'd say about 10% have a mustache and even fewer have the handlebar mustache. But when I see a stranger out in public with a handlebar mustache, I am certain he's a firefighter.

They cannot have beards because of their masks (won’t seal), but mustaches work. Seems to be a bit of a legacy of times past.

The handlebar mustache is a cultural thing among firefighters.

Just watching the news about fires in California, every single one they interviewed had a perfectly groomed and shaped mustache.
Are these popular amongst men in this occupation?
