Look at bringatrailer.com to see what they are going for. That's a good measure of if there is a market. Generally I'd say yes there is.

You may find it easier just to get rid of it then deal with the upkeep needed to keep it in the right condition. I have a collector's car and I keep it in a temperature controlled garage and the battery is plugged into a "tender" device to keep teh battery properly charged.

Just find some local trustworthy car person to get it sorted, then put it up for sale.

It's more about nostalgia. The cars aren't particularly easy or fun to drive compard to more modern cars, compared to advances in technology over the years. For example the 60s Mustangs maxed out at 335hp except for a few special editions. That's just not that much HP by today's standards. Today's base model Mustang for $27k has 310hp, and the top-end Shelby GT model has 760hp.

OP classic cars are like art; values fluctuate. Is this car a special edition? The condition of the car might factor in. For the most special cars, original condition is more valuable than restored. Storage units might be cleaner than a garage, or the car less susceptible to dings. We don't know what your garage is like. Are you planning to ever drive this car?

1964 mustang with a white top is my dad’s favorite car of all time. Some years are more valuable than others, but yes, if it is in good condition it is absolutely a collector’s item.

totally... I'll take it off OP's hands. That's ok. I have a big back yard I can use as a junkyard.

Yes, they are collectibles. Which year and model is it? If it is around '67 and a fastback, then definitely so. This model of car is my DC's dream car, and it seems very popular elsewhere. If it's in good condition then I would suggest putting in the money for upkeep.

64 to 69 Mustangs include some iconic models ('68 GT 390 Mustang "Bullitt" for example). Before '64 there were some very rare experimental models which had different names.

But for all of the '60's models if the Mustang you are inheriting is in good condition with original parts, it could be very collectible. You really need to decide whether you want to become a collector or if you want to enjoy driving the car or if you want to sell it to a collector.

Keeping it in collector condition is expensive (unless you do all of the work yourself), driving the car will prove to be expensive and uncomfortable (unless you really love old cars...and do the work yourself) Selling the car will simply take a little time. If it is in great condition, advertise on Bring a Trailer and just get it auctioned off.

I do not know the year but I do know it is 1960s. Is it considered a collectible? Should I keep it in a garage or in a storage unit?
