His mother, mourning her child right now- that could be me. That could be you. We can play pretend, oh I don't live in one of those apartment complexes, that's where all this stuff happens, I live in a "nice" neighborhood, I live on a cul-de-sac, I live in Bethesda, whatever. The median income in Newtown, where Sandy Hook happened: $127,602. Who are we kidding? The HHI y'all love so darn much can't insulate you from this; this can happen anywhere now.
I can't wait anymore, it's time. This was more than close enough to home for me. Tell me what to do. I will follow you, I will follow anyone with a plan.
I'm not going to debate guns. You can't tell me someone is going to throw a knife into a random child's home and kill them while they eat dinner. Guns are the problem. Enough is enough.

Our problem in DC is guns flowing in from Virginia.
Really we just need to repeal the 2nd amendment.
Why isn't VA having the same problem as DC if this is the case?
Perhaps it is the PEOPLE getting the guns, and not the guns themselves? Maybe we need to lock up those who actually commit crimes instead of continually letting them out on the streets?
Nearly every killer arrested in cases like this have a rap sheet a mile long. But, it's the guns?

Anonymous wrote:OP, I agree. I thought about this before this horrible tragedy and it just brings it home even more. We had friends who had a stray bullet go through their living room a couple years ago (they moved). Our toddlers room is closest to the street. I don't know. I hate thinking about this stuff.
I have done events with Moms Demand Action and donated money to them. It feels like such an uphill battle though. Sometimes my DH and I talk about moving to another country that doesn't have this weird obsessive relationship with guns. Just the idea of living somewhere that doesn't have near constant gun violence.
