I needed a D&C, followed by two hysteroscopies. But be careful - I had the second hysteroscopy with a specialist because there is potential for scarring from repeated procedures (can result in something called Asherman's) and that would not be good.

Ask for the D&C. I almost died by having a missed m/c at home…the amount of bleeding was unreal. Very scary.

I might check with another doctor. Mine scheduled the D&C shortly after a second ultrasound confirmed no heartbeat. Waiting out a miscarriage just prolongs the sadness and anxiety

Both of my mcs were missed miscarriages (so all fine at 8 weeks), then spotting at 10 leads to a checkup and discovery that no heartbeat. So I had a D&C, in both cases, the next day because doc said that in this case, they would likely take up to 3 months to happen on their own and it could happen any time…

Mine took forever to drop after a D&C for a 9 week miscarriage that we found out at 12 weeks (like 6 or 8 weeks if I recall). When I miscarried at 7 weeks I took the pill and HCG dropped much faster.

Mine did not drop either - I had to have a D&C followed by two hysteroscopies.

I had to be treated with chemo for a partial molar pregnancy and hcg level that didn’t drop was a big deal. Don’t let your doctor blow you off.

It can take longer. One of mine took weeks and my HCG also plateaued. It can vary based on the miscarriage and person. I never had a d&c but i was prepared to wait it out.

Hmm, I’m miscarrying now (6 weeks) and my doctor said to expect a week, maybe based on how fast mine is already dropping through. That also tracks with a previous miscarriage where I had to have a D&C.

This is why I had a d&c—twice. Because my body is just not good at accepting it’s over. One doc told me it could be up to 3 months without one.

For those who have miscarried how long did it take for your HCG to reach 0? I had a misarrange early/mid-July and my HCG has essentially plateaued since a month ago-- my RE isn't alarmed but I'm anxious for it to end so I can try again. It has been about 7 weeks since the bleeding began (which started the same day that I tested positive but was unclear for a while if it was a miscarriage or not so I'm not sure if it's technically a chemical pregnancy even though it started at 4 weeks)
