I don't even understand what this person is trying to say.

NP. There are some people that think that master bedroom and master bath are sexist and are trying to eliminate the use of those terms. They want you to call it the owner's bedroom, bathroom, suite, etc. Or some other gender neutral term. I think this is taking gender neutral to an illogical extreme, but, they can try to change the terms; I just think they are fighting a battle that very few want to have.

I thought it was considered racist due to the word master being used to denote the white guy in charge of the plantation.

I considered fixing cracked grout in our shower, watched a few videos, and decided to call in the professionals. My large shower will cost $650 to completely rehab, and it going to take ~6 hours. It sounds messy and they have to match colors to our old grout. I don’t have the time and I’m sure I would have been unhappy with the job I did. I’m hoping it’s money well spent to let the pros do it.

Fwiw I did call the local Grout Doctor and their quote was quite a bit higher than another company that was recommended by a neighbor. So consider a 2nd quote before you decide.

Yes, of course. Lots of videos on how. The best thing I found for grout cleaning was a steam cleaner.

If you are a determined person go for it. It's not hard, just takes some patience. I just did it for a small area of our shower the other day. Make sure you have a good tool to cut out/break up the grout and have all the other supplies on hand.

It is really time consuming especially if you have small tiles. You have to cut out all the grout and caulk and clean that up. It can take many hours or days.

The recaulking and regrouting is a piece of cake compared to that.

I mean, I'd call a handyman but DH redid our grout in our bathtub/shower last year and it looked great. It just took some time is all. He's not particularly handy but it was more painstaking work than hard/complicated.

watch a couple of YouTube videos and then decide. It sounds harder and more intimidating than it is

We just bought our first home. We have two 3' by 3' shower stalls with acrylic shower pans and 4' by 4" tiles on the walls. Some of the grout between the tiles fallen out/missing. And they need recaulking. One of the bathrooms will probably need to be completely redone in a few years - the shower pan looks terrible - but I don't think we're ready for a full bathroom renovation - it is a master with a separate bathtub and I expect it to cost a lot if we want everything to look consistent.

I am not a handy person and have zero experience with home improvement projects but I am pretty determined once I start something. Is it a terrible idea to do this myself? Or should I just hire a handyman? Several hundred bucks is no big deal for us right now, though I am tempted to do it just for the satisfaction of doing something myself.
