Oh yes she can. Just like she can decide to hire a woman instead of a man or someone from her own culture or religion.

OP said she want worried about absences, and the nanny might have a family member to care for the kid if daycare shuts down.

It’s a slight risk, but if nanny is vaccinated, I would take it personally. My kids in daycare were each sick exactly once before kindergarten and I didn’t catch it, let alone pass it on.

This is the worst of all worlds. You’re paying nanny rates but exposed to daycare germs and you will have to deal with finding emergency childcare in case daycare shuts down.

Considering hiring a nanny who has a baby in daycare- I don’t mind absences due to her kid being sick, but don’t want to get sick ourselves. How much of a risk is it to us re COVID and other sickness since her baby is obviously unvaccinated and around a ton of other kids everyday? We are being very safe otherwise and don’t want to take on more risk than necessary. All the other nannies we are considering have grown kids who no longer live with them
