10 yo son has his best friend have sleepovers regularly. She lives across the street from us and they alternate each week between ours and her house. They're always well behaved and it's a delight to have her over. They usually just play together in the backyard till sundown, then change into their PJs and spend the rest of the night playing just dance, wrestling and having burp contests. They can get a little noisy put never to the point of it being an annoyance. By 11 pm they're usually asleep in the den watching a movie. Our son and Larla's sleepovers have never had any issue and we're more than happy to let them continue

On the flip side of this though, once when I was taking care of my niece (2 years younger than our son) while my brother and his wife were on a business trip, we let her have a friend over for a sleepover and it was a nightmare. The girls were rude and obnoxious, bickering and fighting, throwing things around, making mess and they even broke one of our vases. So we've never allowed her to have a friend to sleepover since. So we've had both the best and the worst of sleepovers.

My 8yr old DS just went to his first sleepover a couple of weekends ago. 3 boys total. Parents said they made them turn off the video games at midnight and they fell asleep around 1. I was nervous my kid wouldn't stay but he said he had a blast and wants to do another one sometime. DS was tired the next day but I didn't plan anything so he could just lay around.

I allow them but I set a bedtime of 11pm. After 11 they can watch a movie or whatever. They need to be in their sleeping bags.

Yup. I can't believe how poorly behaved some of these kids are! Rude, disrespectful, absolutely refusing to listen. No manners whatsoever. Just the worst. I told DD any kid who behaves like that will not be invited again. She's very concerned about being invited again, so is careful to follow the rules when at other friends' houses. My parents would have KILLED me if I behaved badly at a friend's house, and DD is well aware of same!

I think it was just these two particular friends who were spoiled and majorly bratty.

Don’t mind sleepovers at all, it’s the exhausted grouchy kid the next day that I hate.

love my kids friends and several are now (after knowing them for 10 years) like children to me but I HATE sleepovers.

I always loved hosting them because I remember how much they meant to me when I was little! But yeah, the kids were pretty worthless the next day.

My kids had them almost every weekend and some weeknights when in high school. I love all their friends and see them when I can. It was a fun time.

Me too. I let my kids have them occasionally because I know they love them, but I hate them so much.

I don’t like them either. I do let DD 9 do a couple a year. ( pre Covid)

DD’s best friend is moving away next weekend so I agreed to let her sleep over one last time I before they go. We haven’t had a sleepover since pre-Covid and I forgot just how horrible they are.

The girls are wild and obnoxious, running all around the house, making such a mess and trying to sneak junk food (after all the junk food I already allowed them to have). They have informed me they won’t be sleeping tonight.

Literally can’t wait until her mom picks her up in the morning.

Anyone else feel this way? As much as Covid sucks all around I have really enjoyed not having others over.
