Same here (another PP). Which level is your daughter?

I have noticed though, even to my untrained eyes, that many citydance dancers have very sloppy technique. TWSB overdoes the precision part at the expense of center turns, but at citydance really only their yagp dancers, who receive lots of individual coaching, are clean (for the most part). It would be nice to find a studio with a middle ground!

OP here. That's where we are now. I'm really not happy with the level of difficulty. They stand at the barre and receive corrections. Very little center work. Dd can't do basic combinations, turns, or leaps.

Bump. Any other recs for more serious dance schools? I’ve heard good things about CityDance, but worried about the negative feedback on here.

Also interested in alternative options. Any insights on Akhmedova?

Where is your child now? I would really like to hear about alternatives!

Nothing at all positive to say. Why don't you stay were you are? If your child did well at the audition, why not stay with the people that got them that far.

Lots of favoritism and you need to be all in to get attention. A few great teachers but also a fair number of average to below.

I’m also interested to learn more about other studios. Willing to travel within and slightly beyond the beltway for the right place.

Thank you!

Does anyone have any positives about CityDance and their pre-professional program? Maybe the audition was a mess but the actual program is worthwhile?

So what other studios are good alternatives? I've heard a lot of negative about them all. (New poster here)

Op here. 1,000 to hold her spot! What? Well, we didn't even get that. The woman raved about my daughter. She flat out said she was accepted and then we get a rejection, then an acceptance, and then nothing! They seem like a mess

No. Get out while you can. That place is a mess these days.

What do you all think of City Dance? We auditioned and I was shocked at how unorganized they are. They don't let anyone in. They kept my daughter for an hour after the audition without telling me anything. I couldn't get in and I'm thinking she has been kidnapped. Then they come out and tell me she is so good they want to talk to me. That she has to be in their pre professional program. Then we get an email that she did not get in. Then another email that says she did.

Is it worth it?
