yep if she's a rising senior in high school there is not much to do. There are generally no "pre-med" programs rather tracks and advisory services which help then determine what classes they should take. My DD is going to probably be a psychology major but on either a med school and PA school track. Nothing special needed to do in HS unless you are applying for a program that offers guaranteed admission to med school.

Relax mom. She is still in HS. Have her take AP Bio and/or AP Chem in senior year. Even just one of these will do. Then have her take all the required premed classes at college. They’re not too bad. Probably the hardest one to pass is organic chem.

what exactly is a “premed program”? Premed is just a series of classes you take as an undergrad that are a prerequisite to medical school, as well as doing the requisite patient care hours, volunteering, MCAT, etc. It’s not a formal program you have to apply to, really.

Not uncommon at all. Most take a year to get all their prerequisites and then apply to med schools.

Cram'em all into one year. It might not be a GPA-friendly way to do things, especially if one of the classes she needs is organic chem, but that's why Caribbean med schools and DO programs exist!

My daughter is a rising senior and until now was unsure what she wanted to study, she has now decided that she wants to be a doctor. I am afraid that she does not have the relevant subjects such as Chemistry/ Biology and the reelevant ECs to get into a premed program. Is is too late for her to get into a premed program? She has done ECs relevent to business such as entreprenuership and owning her own online business.Any advice please.
