Family call on Sunday morning? OP, let your kid breathe. It’s time for him to grow up and stay out all night and not have to call his mom in the morning while hungover.

FWIW, colleges usually have so many activities planned/available for freshman in the first month to help them meet and get acclimated. If his dorm was selected due to a FIG, they have even more going on.

This is a good thing, OP. It means he’s settling in and figuring things out on his own. This is what he is supposed to do.

I was in your shoes two years ago. Just feel all the feels. Take pride in knowing you’ve done your job well. I promise that he still needs you and that it will get better.

I loved him into his dorm and want sure he wouldn’t call me in a few days begging me to pick him up. Instead I’ve hardly heard from him. I’ve gotten a few texts saying “I like my roommate” and “it’s going well” but that’s it! Not even a call. One the one hand I’m thrilled it’s going so well. On the other hand I miss him so much!!
