It sounds like she's gone completely frumpy. I'm a SAHM and manage to put effort into my clothes, although I'm wearing jean shorts and a cute tee. It's not that hard, I don't know what these other posters are going on about. Would you like it if your husband walked around the house in frumpy clothes? I wouldn't.

OP, you can thank the “athleisure” trend for this. People put on leggings or sweatpants and call it an “outfit.” And scream bloody murder when you tell them it isn’t.

It’s a pandemic, most people never dress up these days. Look at her good qualities.

Stop with the hints too (the buying things is what I’m thinking about). It probably does come across as disapproving at best, controlling at worst.

And how exactly do you dress OP?

Maybe take some responsibilities and tasks off her plate for several weeks and then see how much more interested she is in “dressing up.”

Omg do not ever buy a woman a makeover. I would be furious if my H did this.

If you want her to dress up, take her somewhere worth dressing up for.

As a SAHM, no way in hell am I dressing up every day, I need to be able to play at the park with my kids. Can’t do that in jeans. Plus my clothes get completely dirty by the end of the day. But if my H takes me somewhere nice, or better yet when we have a weekend away, I’ll dress up.

If she’s wearing the same outfit for days on end, then it’s probably depression and she needs help. But if you’re pissed she wears yoga pants when you want her to wear jeans, back off and maybe re-assess what you find valuable about your wife.

Assuming this is not how she was when you met her, could she depressed or just feeling overwhelmed with life as a wife,, mom etc?

Has been a frustration for me for a while. I struggle with it because the last thing I want to do is be controlling in any way with my wife. But no matter how much I buy her or encourage her when she does dress up a bit more and look good.

I don’t think I’m asking for that much, but just would like to see her put a bit more effort into her appearance. Even jeans and a tee would be more of a turn on than what she normally wears.
