My son’s teachers allowed it when he was in ms, but my son rarely brought anything to snack on. I used to buy zbars or Lara bars so he could take them, but I quit buying them because he never took them.

They're almost definitely not going to be allowed to eat in middle school due to being older and the mask mandate. This would apply to hallways as well.
But if you want to put an emergency granola bar or some fruit snacks in their lunch, you can totally do that. I can easily throw a handful of fruit snacks in my mouth under my mask at work!
Just pack a lunch with filling and energy-rich foods. A meat-based sandwich, a drink with calories, cheese stick, nuts or nut butter, yogurt, etc...

My kid is starting Middle School and has an early lunch.
What are some non messy, but filling snacks he can eat during the day?
My ES kid often takes things like gold fish, cheese, or fruit, but he can just snack at his desk. I assume in Ms they will have to eat while they transfer classes.
