No, not really. I was illegal myself and worked illegally before becoming a citizen. Anyone in immigration services could see that I must have been a student for very long time.

Who cares what her preference is. Our policy is you are on the books or you aren’t hired. No exceptions. I can’t believe you are foolish enough in your situation to be paying an off the books nanny.
