It is not 1.5 miles. And parents who are driving their kids to and from school every say are creating a generation of lazy entitled kids. They. Can. Walk.
I posted this and yes, the walk zone goes up to 1.5 miles. Maybe not where you live? My kids are within a mile and walk to school, so it’s not an issue for us but it is a real issue for plenty of kids/families. Typical FCC parent who can’t see beyond your own nose to how things could be different for someone else. 🙄
What street is 1.5 miles? I have a friend on Lee Street and they are right at the border of the walk zone, and it's 1.1 miles. That's a 15 minute walk.
I'm sorry, I just don't think it's too much to ask a middle or high schooler to walk 15-20 minutes to school most days.
