It could be argued that the planning of the crimes took place in the USA. The Mom did not give permission for the children to go Mexico, so I don’t know if that is another stateside crime. But the murder happened in Mexico. If I were Mexican govt I would tell USA to handle it. Why should the Mexican people pay to try and house this person?
If anyone knows international criminal law and treaties, can you advise if USA can try him for a murder that happened in Mexico?

The poor mother, who originally contacted authorities because he had left with the kids and she didn’t know where they had went, told police he was not a threat to the children. She probably thought he had taken them to the park and something had come up that kept him from coming back to the house.
Hopefully extradition to Mexico

The mom waited 24 hours between initial and follow up contact with police. She thought he would return with the kids. That time was critical and she will likely blame herself for the rest of her life.
No fight beforehand, no symptoms exhibited. He had a full on break with reality.

I'm heartbroken for his wife. They had a beautiful family, those kids were adorable. For sure the husband either had a drug addiction or an undiagnosed mental illness. No normal person in their right mind would do such a horrible thing to their babies.
