It’s a nanny’s market and will just get more competitive when more parents go back to the office. I see a lot of ads for part-time nannies to cover the afterschool hours and weekends. Most experienced nannies are looking for full-time, top pay with health benefits, and favorable working conditions.

Until school starts, it’s a nanny market for summer. Too many positions right now, not enough qualified people.

Once school starts, it could go either way. If enough kids are in person 5 days with before and aftercare, it’ll swing the other way. It’s been nanny market for the last year and a half, because there just weren’t enough qualified nannies for all the families who were suddenly wfh and/or trying to go into work and had kids at home doing dl.

+1. Go get your long Red Cross Pediatric CPR and First aid certificate (it’s a one day, eight hour course) and a bunch of character references from friends with kids and start looking now. You won’t get top dollar but if you’re iron-clad-reliable, you’ll get a great reference. And then you’re on your way.

When I only had one reference starting out, I used a children’s librarian from our weekly storytime and a Music Together teacher, both who’d seen me with my first charge countless times to fill out my references.

This one of year is generally a nanny’s market especially for part time.

It's on a listserv so not really but ... 3 kids, 2 young and active, person should college educated, have lots of specific positive attributes, and work at least every other weekend in addition to weeks. Maybe not so much crazy specific as demanding. No salary listed. We live in the neighborhood and had been thinking of looking for part-time help this fall but this is the second listing in a row that's been posted and we got zero response when we posted something earlier this summer that I thought was very flexible and undemanding. I'm kind of curious to see where it goes though people don't usually say if they found someone.

What's the job market like right now - buyer's (parent-weighted) or seller's (nanny-weighted)? I just saw a neighborhood ad that I thought was crazy specific and I'm wondering if they can get anyone for it.
