Why is that difficult for you to believe?

In total it may be 7-8 minutes of running, if that is so difficult maybe playing the wrong sport?

But what does that have to do with college programs using at as a test during preseason to gauge their players' baseline fitness levels? The players who are really fit are able to last much longer than 8 minutes.

Youth clubs really do not use it because you are paying for training. The fitness is something you do on your own. Yes, a club may break it out with an older team as a demonstration so that the first time someone does it is not on campus somewhere.

I do highly recommend that anyone going on to play in college get a pretty complete run down of what the coaches do for pre-season fitness testing and work. The absence of fitness work in club is one of the things that can really surprise kids moving on to college. Yes it is a big help to come in really fit, as opposed to being in good shape.

Go with the paid version of “Bleep Test”. It has several versions of the IRT YO-YO & allows you to log a roster and keep multiple test results for use during evals, etc.

it's pretty obvious if someone is not in shape. I think very few clubs use it. Very few clubs have actual fitness testing - if you're not fit in the first place, you're not on the team - or put on a lower team.
