Changing clothes as soo as you get inside and putting the clothes straight in the washer helps too along with a shower.

Why is this? Do they get washed off in the shower before biting?

Yes I'm showering anytime I go outside. Also, the name is a bit of a misnomer. I don't have ANY oak trees, but they're very clearly in my yard.

Ugh. My DD is getting pummeled by these during outside time at daycare. I send her in pants now which is already pushing it (asks for shorts every day) so I don’t think I could get her in a long sleeve shirt. Won’t keep a hat on. Really don’t know what to do anymore.

I read that bug spray doesn’t work. Only staying inside. Has anyone else used lidocaine? The one thing I’m seeing is that my body seems less sensitive to it over time. Less swelling, less itchy, and shorter duration (5-7 days per bite).

The itch lasted about 9 days for me. It's been over 2 weeks now and the area is still red but doesn't itch anymore. I actually put a hair dryer on the bites to reduce the itch in addition to hydrocortisone. They were awful.

I don't know, but warm compresses and cortisone helps.
