OSSE guidelines were already updated at the end of June. Public and private schools in DC have to follow those guidelines. Of course none of this is static but don’t act like they haven’t a changed since April.

DP. If that makes her a bad person, there apparently are over a hundred of them at one school. And another way to look at this is that they help cut down on unnecessary quarantines for everyone.

Right? The whole plan with potentially tons of quarantines and lack of education for the quarantined is a very strong disincentive for testing. They must know this.

Children are punished for testing under this plan.

That's a document from months ago.

The CDC changed their guidance very recently.

Given how fast things are changing, DCPS would be prudent to wait and make announcements about protocols for the fall, closer to the start of school.

What can you do when no one wants to address the giant loophole, which is unmasked indoor lunch???

They can have all the quarantine rules they want, it's not going to change the fact that every day, there will be a spreading event in every school.

Thankfully, most kids will be fine, but there will be a few who won't be.

Well we are screwed.

Fairfax and Montgomery county are following the CDC.
DC students will once again be screwed.

There is no plan to educate kids who are quarantined. Each time there is a positive, our kids will miss 2 weeks of school and do NOTHING.

They won’t have masks at lunchtime, or snack time, or when having a drink of water. And “well-fitting” is a bit of wishful thinking with five year olds etc.


Anyone they ate with wouldn’t be eligible under this exception, obviously… but lots of kids are in situations where they have, e.g., one class period with a student each day, and not following this guidance massively changes the scope of the quarantine required for one kid testing positive in that kind of scenario.
