NP. Plus 100 to the bold above.

And the first PP talking about "a different choice" -- what do you mean, "some people don't want a new vaccine for a disease with a low risk of death"? Do you even read the news, or did you read it last year before the vaccines came along?

Right now, supposedly "healthy" adults in their 20s and 30s who are unvaccinated and without serious underlying conditions are getting seriously ill --sick enough to be in hospitals and on ventilators--in places like Florida. We're seeing, just like last year, reputable reports about hospitals getting overwhelmed and health care workers right back where they were in terms of being slammed with covid patients. Or do you just choose not to read the many articles about people saying from hospital beds, or their deathbeds, how they wish they had gotten the vaccine? Plenty out there, if you look at any news source other than Fox.

Bet you don't "believe in" long covid either. Survive the infection but live with potentially lifelong effects. But I'm sure your immune system will protect you. Will it protect other people to whom you transmit Delta when you don't have symptoms but are infected?

What is a simple-minded political narrative is claiming that the "Left" is out of touch, and waiving your hands by saying blacks-and-Hispanics-mumble-mumble. It's the absolute favorite current Talking Point to criticize people supporting vaccination -- and that's regardless of how you chose to identify yourself on this anonymous site.

There are real issues to deal with here. History, inequity, hierarchies, etc. But the truth is that most people who are unvaccinated are white, and there's no reason to think that is different for the DMV. People who identify as black and Hispanic are disproportionately seeking out the vaccine for the last 2 weeks, so that is still changing -- and not in the direction you suggest.

You need to take a course in statistics. Most people in this country are white, so most of the unvaccinated are white. According to CDC data, blacks and Hispanics lag behind whites in vaccination, and a lot of it has to do with inequitable vaccine distribution. Not sure why pointing that out makes you think I'm a republican pretending to be a democrat on an anonymous site. I think the whole narrative of dump Trumpers won't get vaccines (while having truth to it) completely overlooks some of the equity issues around the vaccine.

Yeah, that isn't the primary threat to anyone's health, not by a long shot.

Factually incorrect statement, at least in Montgomery County, where the vaccination rate for Latino residents is higher than the vaccination rate for white residents.

Does the county list percentage of population vaccinated by race/ethnicity l?

DP. Also making different choices from me:

-people who choose to drive drunk
-people who choose to dump their trash in public places
-people who choose to have dog-fighting as their hobby

Prince George's County is predominantly black/AA and 70% of adults are vaccinated.

I'm not vaccinated. 50 yo white female Democrat. I have medical issues, including severe allergies and an as yet undiagnosed auto immune condition, with risk of blood clots. I am doing the right thing for me, which is holding off on vaccination until I have a handle on my health.

My neighbor. Apolitical, thinks she has a strong immune system, has doubts about a brand-new vaccine, feels pushed by her health care providers.

Also, one of my co-workers. Never gets a flu shot, doesn't hold with this vaccine either.

Also, my friend's niece. Hoping to get pregnant, doesn't want to risk her fertility.

OP, I'm sure you know unvaccinated people, too. You might just not know that they're unvaccinated.
