Agree with the immediate PP. Don't get hung up on definitions, OP. It's just a term used loosely for low stim cycles. There's no strict definition, so don't worry about it.

I think "mini ivf" is a vague term that can be used to describe all sorts of cycles. I am on a mini protocol that includes 2 vial menopur, 150 follistem, 2 clomid tablets. But I've seen "mini" described as even less than that.

Op here. I don’t think mine is mini because I didn’t take cliomid beforehand. Just birth control. Thoughts?

Unless you’re leaving out procedures that just sounds like a monitored cycle with injectable meds. Risky without IUI and close monitoring of follicle development/eggs.

How does the sperm fertilize the egg? If it’s inside your body, it’s not IVF.

I did that protocol for mini IVF, but always started with letrozole or clomid before the follistim/ganirelex. Menopur and follistim both work to mature the follicles (in different ways, but same result), so I don’t think you need both.

Ok thank you! Mine isn’t considered mini because I’m taking 200 of follostim?

Mini IVF vs conventional IVF depends on the dosage (less than 150 or 200 for Mini). I've always done with menopur to mature the eggs as well (basically your stim dose comes from Follistim and Menopur and is less than 200 IU). Otherwise, it looks very similar to what I've done. It's never worked for me, but it's worked for other people. Some doctors think mini ivf is better for quality. I would ask why they did not prescribe menopur, as it is needed to mature the eggs before trigger.

Op here. I don’t get your jokes. I’m asking if it’s mini ivf versus conventional
