OP .. this happened to me when my DS was a toddler. He thew up in the car. Once I got him and the rest of the folks home .. I drove to the nearest car wash. i told them about the situation and they advised me a deep clean (a little $$). It took a while but it was so worth it. I kept the car for another decade

I'll second that vote for the enzymatic cleaner. The enzymes break down the animo acids in the bile. Without that, it'll just smell like vomit and pina colada, and when the vehicle interior really heats up, it'll smell even worse.

My kid threw up in the car a few times, and I'd totally forgotten about it until now. The enzymatic cleaner works...

Sorry OP. We literally traded in a car that this happened to us in. And yes after that we always travelled with gallon zip lock bags and trained our kids to ask for the bags early and aim properly!

Getting it detailed without pre-treating it with an enzymatic cleaner may not be very effective.

Yes you can get your car detailed. Can you take the covers off the car seats and go to a laundrymat?

First solo trip with both kids (2 yo and 5 yo). Windy mountain roads led to both kids getting very carsick and throwing up a few times each. No where to pull over so just toughed it out for about 45 min. Once we got to our hotel, I was by myself so I couldn’t leave them in the room while I cleaned the car. Did the best I could with both kids sitting in the front but it was dark and kids were eager to get out of the car. We went up to our room and now it’s the next morning- car smells TERRIBLE and car seats have vomit in every crease and corner. Vomit is also soaked into the carpet and between the seats. All over the seatbelts and buckles too. What can I do? Is there a service that will detail your car and car seats at this level? I’m not sure we can make it the 4 hours home like this. I seriously want to just abandon my car and buy a new one!!
