I think metro with a mask is low risk and would let my spouse decide.

Metro is SO much safer than driving! Car accidents are likely a bigger risk to your family as a whole than your kids getting covid.

Yes OP. You are wanting to reserve all the risk for activities that benefit you or what you want to do with the kids.

Your husband is vaccinated and wearing a mask. And honestly Metro ridership is way down right now.

YTA. Have him wear a decent mask and it'll be fine. Are your kids going to school? If so, than THAT is more of a risk.

Yes. You're being the jerk here. Let him have a peaceful/ relaxing commute. If he is wearing his mask, washes his hands, and is vaccinated, why don't you have faith you'll be ok? Even the unvaccinnated children are at minimal risk with this scenario.

I've taken the metro during the entire pandemic as an essential worker who never left working in the office (medical field). I wear a mask. I've never tested positive for Covid and we do weekly testing at the office.

You should let it go. I do t mind a long driving commute but for some people it’s truly miserable. You want him to be miserable every day to try to prevent something that is likely not overly harmful to your kids if it happens, while at the same time being accepting of that harm if it is for something that you want. It’s hypocritical. You should not blame him for bringing home delta unless you and the kids are also on the strictest of lockdowns, which is clearly not the case. You will never know if it’s metro that caused it.

OP, will your kids be going to school/daycare?

If so, I don't know how you can pin anything on your husband's commute. I get the anxiety, but...

He should drive. Tell him if I can drive nearly 90 minutes in traffic each way to work, so can he.

Tell him to listen to comedy specials on Netflix, etc. to keep him happy and entertained. It’s a great way to start your day.

If he is fully masked (N95) then YTA.

My husband has been called back to work while I am still teleworking. He doesn't want to drive in as he says it is exhausting and makes him miserable, so he takes metro instead. I had some concerns, but acceded a while ago. But now with the news of the Delta variant being transmissible by the vaccinated, I told him that I would be very angry if one of our two unvaccinated (due to age) kids got covid from him due to his metro trips.

He brought up that we will be taking our kids back to my home state in December to see family they haven't seen in two years (including my new nephew who I have never met due to pandemic) before they can get vaccinated, and that I am OK with that.

I admit me being OK with the trip is somewhat hypocritical, but its just a one-time-flight as opposed to daily commuting with a safer alternative readily available.

He's got parking at work and I think driving would save some time overall; he just finds riding the metro more relaxing.

Am I the Asshole? Should I keep expressing my concerns about this or let it go?
