Well from the OP it's been twice in two months so that's a quarter of the time they are paying for. It is a burden for a working parent. Of course, it's not the provider's fault, and these closures are a huge strain on them as well because many families will make the calculation that paying for daycare is not worth it.

Oh stop. We paid for 6 months of full time preschool at the beginning of the pandemic and we got a one hour zoom per day. A few weeks Is nothing!!

Ours did not make us pay when they closed for two covid cases. Each time was on a Wednesday, and they closed for the rest of the week. We’re in nova.

Because the daycare still has operational fees - rent, salaries, benefits - and they want to be able to use the daycares services when it re-opens.

Normal. The protocols for Covid should’ve been in your paperwork. I have not heard of any place that closes with out charging.

Because the teachers still have to get paid, the daycare still has to pay its rent, water and electricity, because they still have a spot in the school, because they have to pay for maintenance and upkeep of the premises, because they have to pay the cleaning people, because the school paid for a deep clean of their room while they were out, etc….

I could go on, but I’m so sick of hearing this mentality from parents. Daycare/preschools have razor thin margins and loosing 10-12 children’s tuition for 2 weeks because of something they can’t control can drown these smaller centers. I get you either have to take off work or hire help and that’s really frustrating/financially trying, but the daycare isn’t shutting down for laughs.

Because its not the day cares fault they are closing and the day care still has to pay salaries of the staff, the facility, insurance, etc.

Yes, normal. Concerned about the class closing twice? Read the news, it's not the daycare's fault.

Yes, its normal. What else are they supposed to do? Its not their fault it closed. Blame the families.

The classroom our 2 year old child goes to has closed twice due to covid cases in the past two months. We are paying for care even though the class is closed. Is that normal? Should I be concerned that the class has been closed due to covid this many times?
