Similar except that I work full-time, too, and I definitely carry almost all of the mental load/planning stuff/doctor's appt etc. even though the chores are pretty evenly split.

For certain chores, yes. DH does nearly all of the cooking. I take out the trash each week.

We have very few "assigned" tasks. It's mostly just a giant pile of sh*t that has to be moved from one side of the room to the other every day and we both keep shoveling until its done. And then one day we die.

Which is funny, because my own father did all the household tasks.

I am a man and I do all the cooking as well as the dishes and the laundry.

But I identify as a woman when I do these things.

I do all of our finances and mow the grass (love the exercise!), DH does all the cooking and grocery shopping.

But otherwise we follow our gender norms. He loves working on cars, fixing things, handyman stuff (I'm the worst at this). I love cleaning and doing laundry (I really do enjoy it). We equally care for the kids and rotate who bathes/reads stories/takes them to daycare.

My DH is a truly amazing cook who loves to do it and forces us all to watch Iron Chef whenever he can so I'm fine with him going wild with his one true love and being the main cook in the family. I also handle most of the money. But other than that we're pretty equal with stuff! Although I guess I do most of the laundry and he does all of the fixing that needs to be fixed.

Yup. I do all financial stuff, he does all cooking and laundry. We hire out most stuff in the house, but I do all the contractor vetting.

It's pretty normal in DCUM land to have working moms, dads who do bath and bedtime, and both parents who cook. Women still do more laundry and more housekeeping overall. You are probably a little unusual with your lawn mowing.

It's an interesting question. We're Gen-Xers who view/viewed our relationship as pretty egalitarian. Nonetheless, we've fallen into somewhat traditional roles in the household, but not entirely. We tend to share most chores, but DW does the vast majority of cooking and DH does the vast majority of fixing stuff that's broken/not working properly around the house, for example.

Not to that extent, but DH does laundry and I take care of the car. Meaning, I take it in to get oil changes and such, I don’t actually do them myself.

But that’s it! I never thought I would so strongly prefer traditionally feminine tasks but it works for us.

DH does almost all the cooking and I handle all the investments.

But he also mows the lawn and I do the laundry, so it's not like we're dedicated to making some kind of statement. We're just running a household.

We are a 2 mom family with one DD. We don’t have gender norms in our house.

Does anyone else flip the "traditional" gender roles when it comes to any specific chores in your house? For example, my DH hates to mow the lawn so I mostly do that and he does almost all of the cooking.
